This natural lot was grown on the Ruera Estate, a 190 hectare site in Kiambu County, where a focus on quality and continuous improvement has firmly put them on the specialty map. Managed by Coffee Management Services (CMS), the estate benefits from regular input from agronomists, who work with the team to continuously refine farming practices and processing methods.
For this natural coffee, cherries are picked by hand and sorted before being laid out on outdoor drying beds. Drying is closely monitored to avoid over-fermentation and to ensure a stable moisture content of 10-11%. This is a significantly less common expression of Kenyan coffee, and an award-winning example - last year, this coffee won first place in the Natural Coffee category at the Kenya National Taste of Harvest competition.
